Wedding Anniversary
Today is my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary; their ‘golden wedding anniversary’.
We’re organising a big surprise party for them this evening. They think that we’re just going for dinner, but really, we’ve rented a big hall and invited all their friends and loved ones.
I’ve told my grandparents that we’re going to a very fancy restaurant, so they need to dress up. My grandmother is wearing a long pink dress and her best jewellery: a necklace, a bracelet and a pair of beautiful diamond earrings.
My grandfather is wearing an elegant grey suit with a waistcoat and jacket. The colour of his tie matches my grandmother’s dress. It’s so cute! Unfortunately, he’s forgotten to iron his shirt, so it’s a bit creased, and his waistcoat is missing a button, but apparently that’s good luck!
Of course, they’re both wearing their weddings rings, as they have done every day for the last 50 years.
Each member of our family has a different mission for the party: my cousin Lauren has made the cake, my uncle Tony took care of the decorations and I was in charge of the presents, even though deep down I wanted to be the DJ.
The whole family pitched in to give my grandparents a really nice present. We’ve got them two tickets for a weekend in Paris, where they can watch a show, see the sights and celebrate their anniversary in style.
I can’t wait to see the look on their faces when they walk into the hall and everyone shouts “Surprise!”. Let’s hope that everyone can keep it a secret for a few more hours.
