Relaxing in the Park
“What a beautiful day!” Mrs Dulac thinks to herself. “The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. It’s far too nice to stay inside.”
Mrs Dulac is retired and lives in a big city. She lives in a building in the centre of town. She doesn’t really like this way of life because, despite the large number of inhabitants, she’s very lonely. She doesn’t even know all of her neighbours! Fortunately, there is a park with beautiful lawns nearby. Mrs Dulac always goes there when the weather is nice. Like today.
There’s always something going on in the park. You can find joggers, dogs and their owners, cyclists and families with their children. Mrs Dulac is very sociable, so she always meets new people and old friends who she can chat to.
Along the pathways are public benches. Some benches are in the sun while others are in the shade of the trees. It isn’t too hot today, so Mrs Dulac sits on a bench in the sun. From there, she can watch the ducks and the fish in the pond. She loves the splashing of the fountain.
She’s just sat down when she hears cooing coming from the bushes. Yes, even the pigeons know Mrs Dulac and they know that she always brings them something to eat.
“There you are!” says Mrs Dulac with a laugh and puts her bag down next to her on the bench. Of course she’s thought of her feathered friends today.
