An Unexpected Visit
There are some days where everything goes wrong. That afternoon, Hugo went for a walk in the park with his girlfriend Mathilde. Suddenly, with no explanation, she turned to him and told him that she didn’t want to see him anymore. Then, it started to pour with rain. Hugo, heartbroken, went home in the rain.
He entered the living room, turned on the light and … disaster! Everything reminds him of his beloved Mathilde: her knick-knacks on the shelves, her pink porcelain rabbit, her carnivorous plant, her detective novels, her vanilla candle … And the picture of her hanging on the wall that looks him straight in the eye! It’s all too much for Hugo, who decides to drown his sorrows in a glass of wine. Sitting on the couch, he picks up the remote control and turns on the TV to distract himself. But the exhaustion of the day doesn’t take long to catch up with him and he falls into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Thomas the local thief, who had observed the whole scene, decides to take action. He tiptoes into the house and creeps into the living room. But Thomas isn’t your average thief and he isn’t known for his discretion, to say the least! He reaches the table, trips on the rug and knocks over a chair, which to the floor with a thud. Hugo, who hasn’t been disturbed in the slightest by this commotion, continues snoring soundly without suspecting a thing. Poor Hugo! Thomas thinks to himself, sitting on the armchair for a few minutes to collect his thoughts. How can I help him? Deep in thought, he pours himself a good glass of wine. It’s then that he has a brilliant idea: he will only steal the things that belong to Mathilde so Hugo doesn’t have to think about her anymore! No sooner said than done! Thomas gets to work. He starts with Mathilde’s old-fashioned necklace and watch, which he makes disappear in the blink of an eye. The pink porcelain rabbit is next.
