Le match de tennis

Séréna est dingue de tennis. À l’âge de 4 ans, elle reçut sa première raquette et ses premières chaussures de tennis. Aujourd’hui, elle se prépare à jouer un match important. Elle est un peu nerveuse.

Heureusement, c’est à elle d’engager le jeu. Elle se positionne devant la ligne de fond et inspire profondément avant de lancer la balle dans les airs. L’arbitre, très concentré, est installé sur sa chaise haute. Les tribunes autour du court sont bondées. À présent, tous les yeux sont rivés sur Séréna. Mais malheureusement elle était si nerveuse que la balle n’a pas atterri dans le carré de service.

La première balle qu’elle reçoit est d’une force incroyable. Elle la contre d’un coup droit magistral qui l’envoie brillamment au dessus du filet. Le revers de son adversaire n’est pas mal non plus, pourtant la balle sort du court. Le ramasseur de balle se précipite pour la récupérer.

Le jeu continue et reste palpitant jusqu’au bout. Les spectateurs scrutent le score. Finalement ce sera l’adversaire de Séréna qui gagnera le jeu en 2 sets.

Translation

The Tennis Match

Séréna is crazy about tennis. At the age of four, she received her first racquet and her first trainers. Today, she’s getting ready for an important match. She’s a bit nervous.

Luckily, she’s the one to serve first. She positions herself at the baseline and takes a deep breath before she throws the ball in the air. The umpire is very focused and sits in his high chair. The stands around the court are packed. Right now, all eyes are glued to Séréna. But unfortunately she was so nervous that the ball doesn’t reach the service box.

The first ball that she receives has an incredible force behind it. She counters it with a brilliant backhand that sends it flying back over the net. Her opponent’s backhand isn’t bad either, yet the ball goes out. The ball boy hurries to retrieve it.

The game carries on and is thrilling right to the end. The spectators eye the scoreboard. In the end it’s Séréna’s opponent who wins the game in two sets.
