Mes compagnons chahuteurs

J’aime mes amis les animaux ! Je partage donc mon appartement avec Gribouille, le chat peureux, Martine, qui est encore toute petite, et Hector, le chien géant. Mes compagnons à quatre pattes sont très gentils mais ils me font parfois perdre patience. Le soir, ils se conduisent comme des enfants et refusent d’aller dormir. Ils font alors toutes les bêtises possibles et imaginables. Et de l’imagination, croyez-moi, ils en ont !

Hier soir, Hector a poursuivi le pauvre Gribouille dans tout l’appartement en aboyant très fort. Pour lui échapper, Gribouille est entré dans la chambre, a sauté sur l’armoire et s’est caché dans un carton. Heureusement qu’il n’a pas fait tomber le cintre auquel ma chemise de nuit était suspendue ! Hector, frustré, a sauté sur le lit et s’est approprié ma couette et mon oreiller sans aucune gêne. Impossible de le faire descendre de là. La petite Martine, au milieu de tout ce capharnaüm, a aussi voulu y mettre son grain de sel et a pris mes pantoufles pour cible.

Mais je suis bien plus rusée que tous les trois réunis et j’ai une méthode imparable pour les faire sortir de la chambre : le réveil. Dès qu’ils entendent la sonnerie stridente, ils s’enfuient à la vitesse de l’éclair. Je n’ai plus qu’à fermer la porte et tirer les rideaux avant de me glisser dans mon lit. Enfin seule ! Je peux lire au calme quelques pages du roman posé sur ma table de nuit et m’endormir tranquillement. J’espère seulement ne pas rêver d’une visite au zoo !

My Rowdy Roomates

I love my animal friends! That’s why I share my apartment with Gribouille, the scaredy cat, Martine, who is still very small, and Hector, the giant dog. My four-legged companions are very sweet, but they sometimes make me lose my patience. In the evenings they behave like children and refuse to go to sleep. They get up to all kinds of imaginable mischief. And trust me, they aren’t lacking in imagination!

Last night, Hector chased poor Gribouille round the whole apartment barking loudly. To get away from him, Gribouille went into the bedroom, jumped on the wardrobe and hid in a box. Luckily he didn’t knock over the hanger where my nightdress was hanging. Frustrated, Hector jumped onto the bed and boldly helped himself to my duvet and pillow. It was impossible to get him off. Little Martine, in the middle of this chaos, also wanted to get involved and targeted my slippers.

But I’m much more cunning than those three put together and I’ve got a foolproof method of getting them out of my bedroom: the alarm clock. As soon as they hear the shrill ringing, they run away fast as lightning. All I have to do is close the door and draw the curtains before crawling into bed. Alone at last! I can quietly read a few pages of the book on my bedside table and fall asleep in peace. I just hope that I don’t dream of a visit to the zoo!
